Elementor adds overhead — that’s real. Every page builder trades some performance for visual editing. Badly used, Elementor sites absolutely crawl: 40 plugins, nested sections ten layers deep, five font families, a template kit’s unused animations firing on every page.
Why I still choose Elementor: because after launch, you can edit your own website. A hand-coded site is faster in a lab test and frozen in real life — every text change becomes an invoice.
Built properly, the overhead is small and manageable. Flexbox containers instead of legacy sections, native features instead of addon stacks, loaded assets trimmed to what the page uses, correct image formats and caching. Is Elementor slow?
Elementor adds some overhead like every visual builder, but slow Elementor sites are almost always badly built ones — bloated kits, plugin stacks, unoptimized assets. Properly built Elementor sites pass Google’s Core Web Vitals; mine ship with the PageSpeed report to prove it.
Do I need Elementor Pro or is the free version enough?
For a real business site, Pro — it adds the Theme Builder (custom headers/footers), forms, popups, and WooCommerce Builder. My build packages include Pro setup; if free genuinely covers your needs, I’ll say so and save you the license fee.
Can you fix a site another freelancer built in Elementor?
Yes — inherited sites are half my workload. I diagnose free, tell you honestly whether it needs a fix, a cleanup, or a rebuild, and quote a fixed price for whichever it is.
